2010 New Nissan Nismo 370Z

Nissan’s new 370Z may be quite nimble, but those hankering for a track-ready package should consider stepping up to the new 2010 Nismo 370Z, which debuts at the 2009 New York auto show.

Like the Nismo 350Z before it, the new automobile receives a host of suspension revisions designed to glue the Z to the track. Nismo (Nissan’s in-house tuning firm) adds a face strut shape brace, performance dampers, increases the face spring rates by 15 percent, and stiffens the side coils by 10 percent. Coupled with thicker stabilizer bars, the tweaks increase the 370Z’s damping bourgeois by 40 proportionality in face and a whopping 140 proportionality in the rear.

In order to provide power to match the track prowess, Nismo also fiddled with the Z’s engine. The 3.7-liter V-6 is nearly identical to that in a connatural 370Z, but thanks to a Nismo exhaust grouping and a tricked-out engine control module, it sees a substantial boost in power. The Nismo-tuned mill produces 350 hp at 7400 rate (vs. 332 hp @ 7000 rpm) and 276 lb-ft of torque (up from 270) at 5200 rpm. Nismo 370Zs are only acquirable with a six-speed drill transmission, which is equipped with the trick rev-matching system.

Nismo also modifies the 370Z’s exterior, adding a new elongated face fascia. Although it does decent up the Z’s face appearance, the new snout also incorporates a lineament mollycoddler and match canards to improve downforce. New lateral sills are designed to match, and a giant side spoiler, inspired by racing-spec Zs, is again conception of the package. So too are Rays metal wheels – these 19-inch pieces are unique to the Nismo Z, although the large vented round brake are culled from the 370Z’s Sport Package.

The Nismo help throws in a few interior touches, including red stitching on the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, Nismo logos on the tachometer and textile containerful seats, and aluminum-trimmed pedals. Don’t look for an iPod cut or navigation – the Nismo 370Z makes do with the base four-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo system, and options are otherwise limited to selecting one of fivesome makeup colors (red, white, silver, graphite, or black).

Nissan hasn’t discussed pricing for the new Nismo model, but does wait cars to arrive at U.S. dealerships sometime in June 2009.

2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce

Quick! Grab your DVD of Steve McQueen’s epic film, \”Le Mans.\” Fast nervy to the bit near the end where McQueen’s Gulf Porsche 917 is chasing down the No. 8 Ferrari 512, and crank up the volume. There! That effort where the No. 8 Ferrari passes the sick No. 5 car on the last lap. Listen… That’s exactly what the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce sounds same at 7000 rpm in fourth gear.

You’re motion at a shade over 160 mph in the low-slung Lambo at those revs. And you still have two wheelwork to go. Oh, lordy… This is the supercar from central casting. Big. Loud. Fast.

Lamborghini launched the Murcielago artefact back in 2001 on the slopes of Mount cleft in Sicily. The cleft was respiration gently as we flew in, and as we drove up the mountain some of the lava from an eruption mere weeks earlier was still cooling. It wasn’t hard to figure discover the subtext here: This car is meant to be intimidating. Handle with care.

Which is ground the LP670-4 SV is much a surprise. It’s the lightest, most powerful, fastest Murcielago ever built. Yet it allows us mortals to tip-toe fireman to the rattling edge of its genuinely volcanic performance bag than any big-banger Lambo in history. If any $450,000, 661-horsepower, 212-mph, hip-high wedge of weapons-grade testosterone could ever be called a pussycat, this is it. Well, up to a point.

The SV might countenance like a regular Murcielago with some styling cues from the megabuck Reventon tacked on, but the changes to this car go way more than wound deep. The regular Murcielago is built using a combination of carbon composites and tubular steel. For the SV, the metal bits were redone in a newborn super-high-strength sectional poise that accumulated torsional stiffness by 12 percent and saved 44 pounds. A newborn wear grouping saves 57 pounds.

The hand-finished interior is all carbon material and Alcantara (which Lamborghini claims is device than leather) and features hip-hugging, lightweight race-car containerful seats, action a further 75lb. The face fenders, rear lodge panels, engine cover, and all the gimmick newborn aero bits, including the face mollycoddler and the Brobdingnagian \”Aeropack\” aerofoil (a $7000 option that cuts the top pace to 209 mph but develops an awful aggregation of downforce) are prefabricated from carbon fiber. In union with the removal of the intend organisation for the moveable rear mollycoddler (a small immobile mollycoddler is accepted on the SV), these support save 28 pounds. The SV tips the scales 220 pounds device than a regular Murcielago. But with its colossus 26.4-gallon render tank brim full, it still weighs in at a hefty 3894 pounds.
